I am so concerned about the proposed performances of Shakespeare’s Richard III in Leicester Cathedral that I have made a video stating my reasons for opposing it.
Please watch and sign the petition – there are two versions one shorter than the other as I know your time is precious, but the longer one goes into more detail. Also, if you don’t mind and agree with my view please share this post, the videos and the petition to friends and family.
Here is the long version (just under five minutes): Long version

I have been appalled and sickened by the plan of Leicester Cathedral to allow two performances of Shakespeare’s Richard III ‘mere feet from his tomb’.
Not only is this a work which depicts the King as an evil, hunchbacked tyrant who murdered his way to the throne (and is the very thing which has most influenced the bad, and inaccurate, reputation he has), but the idea of performing it right where he was supposedly laid to rest is distasteful, inappropriate and crass.
Leicester, amid protests that they would not be worthy custodians of the last English king to die in battle, defending his country, protested that they would treat his remains ‘with dignity and honour’. How is this upholding that sacred and honoured responsibility?
I am not saying the play is bad; it is, of course, brilliant, but not in the place of rest of the subject of it.
So I have started a petition to protest about it. Please click on the picture of Richard’s tomb and sign and share it for me, if you believe this is wrong!
